DESIGN FOR MANUFACTURE
[CONCEPT TO PRODUCTION]

Customer Problem

Midwest Turned was contacted by a prospective client whom needed some custom machined parts for an automated beverage machine which was in the early stages of R&D.  They were in need of machining services as well as some expertise on what the most cost effective strategies would be to produce these items in large quantity.  Sample batches of many machined parts would need to be produced in order to perform the necessary field testing prior to the product launch.

Solution Provided

A team of MTP engineers & technicians worked closely with the client’s engineer in order to establish many details of the components which would need to be machined.  Based on the collaborative processes of DFM and reverse engineering, blueprints were produced and the production of sample parts began.  The samples were taken to the customer’s facility for assembly and testing.  Once results were available, the collaboration process started again and now focused on design improvements as well as cost reduction strategies.  In the end, the client was able to finish all R&D and the project went from prototype to large production. MTP now supplies the client with replenishment stock for all requirements moving forward.  MTP was their one stop source for the entire lifecycle of the project.
